Dear Daniel: Empower to Power Card

Dear Daniel,

When I was at the Welcome Desk, a customer told me that she just moved into town and wants to get a Power Card to check out books. She has her old California state license and a copy of her temporary TX license. Is this enough, or does she need to bring in cancelled mail? What exactly do you need to get a Power Card anyway? Empower to Power Card

Emp,

Now I would like to clarify regarding the "copy of her temporary TX license" that we do not accept "copies" of any form of ID/TDL. We always must have an original. That being said, If a customer comes in with an out of state ID/TDL, all we require is verification of address. A temporary ID/TDL is absolutely ideal, however most of the time we're not that lucky. Alternate ways of verifying the address is through a Voter's Registration Card, insurance card, a current utility bill, a lease, and (should the person not have a permanent residence) a letterhead from a residence organization with a letterhead that includes the company's name, address and length of stay.

Daniel
