Dear Daniel: Troubled Title Pager

Dear Daniel,

I've been getting more curious about the way the title pages are done. Can you give me the rundown on how these are put together?

Troubled Title Pager

Title Pager,

We follow a pretty easy formula in order to pull the title pages. The first thing we do is open millennium and go down the sidebar to “NOTICES” (It should be a picture of a triangle pointing left with three lines coming out of it. I like to see it as a flying saucer flying on its side). Once you click on the button, a pretty much empty page will appear with some familiar buttons along the top of the page. Click on the “NEW” button and a new window will pop up with what a plethora of assorted buttons and several drop down boxes. There are only two things you’ll need to concern yourself with on this page. Click on the dropdown box next to “NOTICE TYPE”, it should say “OVERDUE”. Two other options will appear which are “ITEM PAGING SLIPS” and “TITLE PAGING SLIPS”. Choose one as we’ll have to do both anyway. After you’ve made your choice, click on “SORT BY” and another box will appear.

Now here comes our easy formula. Click on “APPEND” until you have 7 lines.

TYPE FIELD

1 i 79 (location)

2 b 30 (material type)

3 i p (prefix)

4 b c (call #)

5 b a (author)

6 b t (title)

7 i b (barcode

This will made the title pages come out in this order:

Large Print

Kids

Fiction

AV

000-Bios

Stacks

World Language

Young Adult

As a general rule, we divide the Title Pages into the following order:

LPC, Fiction, AV and WL

000-Bios

Kids, YA and Stacks

However if the 4th and 5th floor have only a few and 2nd floor has more, we will on occasion attach 800s-Bios to the 4th/5th Title Pages.

I hope this helped!

Daniel
